METASPACE, a leading Korean provider of solutions for astronomy and space science, has installed a Screenberry media server in the state-of-the-art spherical projection theater at the National Yeosu Marine Meteorological Science Museum.
Opened in December 2024 in the picturesque coastal city of Yeosu, this museum is the first in Korea dedicated to marine weather. Visitors can explore meteorological phenomena through various interactive multimedia installations before stepping into a fully immersive projection sphere for an unforgettable journey through the skies and oceans.
The sphere is 12 meters in diameter. It is crossed by a transparent observation platform connecting two entrance doors. Standing on the platform, the visitors can get immersed in 360-degree visuals that wrap them all around.
At the heart of this experience is a single Screenberry Atlas x4 media server, which automatically aligns and runs 12 WUXGA Vivitek laser phosphor projectors. An additional media server was installed as a backup. The media server uses a four-camera Screenberry Calibration Kit to capture the entire projection surface.
To illuminate the 450m2 spherical screen, the projectors were positioned around the two entrance doors on the opposite sides of the sphere. This layout was designed to avoid shadows cast by the observation platform and prevent the projectors from beaming into the visitors’ eyes. At the same time, this scheme required an advanced solution for stitching the projections into a seamless image.
Soonchang Park , METASPACE CEOInspired by the success of Space 360, the National Yeosu Marine Meteorological Science Museum approached us to design a similar immersive attraction. Naturally, Screenberry was our top choice. It provides everything required for such a challenging installation, including multi-camera auto-calibration and advanced alignment algorithms, making a full-sphere setup not only possible but also efficient and easy to maintain.

The Yeosu Sphere is the second Screenberry-driven spherical projection theater in South Korea. The first one – Space360 – was installed by METASPACE at the Gwangju National Science Museum back in 2017. The Gwangju sphere was recently upgraded with the latest version of Screenberry software, enabling faster and more efficient multi-camera auto-alignment.
Irina Zhivotko, Head of Projects at Front PicturesWe’re thrilled to see an increasing number of immersive installations worldwide choosing Screenberry. Its powerful toolkit enables what once seemed impossible. The Yeosu Sphere is yet another example that demonstrates this.
